Porter: Thinking

Great-Gma Wessel:  "I think..."
Dane:  "Uh oh, careful about thinking. It'll hurt."
Porter (with a smile):  "Daddy, I'm thinking!  It doesn't hurt."

Porter: Everything Bald

Porter had his head shaved for dressing up as the AVATAR.
Then he noticed how everything is bald.
Porter at the breakfast table with his biscuits and peaches...
He stabs his peach holds it up and says:
"This is the sun... going bald."

Debany: Persistance

Debany playing with her siblings.

Debany:  "Catch me when I fall back."
Debany after she isn't caught:  "Oh oh, let's try that again."

Myanna: Occasional Generosity

Myanna:  Who wants the last olive?
Mom:  You.
Myanna:  No, it's Dad's.
(She walks away... then turns around and comes back.)
Myanna:  Okay, I'll eat it -- cause you told me to.

Porter: tickets and flies

Porter:  I'll put this paper over our ticket cups so the flies won't get them
Mom:  But flies don't want tickets.
Porter:  I'll keep this paper on so the 'ticket flies' won't get to them.
Mom:  Ok.  Sounds good.  :)

Porter: really important

Mom:  "Porter? I have something really important to tell you."
I whisper in his ear, "I love you."
Mom: Did you hear that?
Porter:  "No."
I whisper in his ear again, "I love you."
Mom: Did you hear that?
Porter, "yes.  Mom, I have something important to tell you."
Mom:  ok (expecting an I love you back.)
Porter: "If there's a fire, we have to evacuate.  Good thing we have a new van.  But who's going to drive the truck?"
Mom:  "Thanks, Porter.  That IS really important.  :)"

Porter: Mountain Stuff

Porter comes to our door in the morning and says:
"Can we go for a drive?"
Mom: "Where do you want to go?"
Porter: "We can go for a drive to the mountains.
See the rocks on the mountains... they're real pretty.
See the leaves on the mountains... they're real pretty.
See the snow on the mountains... its real pretty.
You know, mountain stuff.
We took a drive with our new truck to the mountains.
Now we need to take a trip to the mountains in our new van."
(All this out of him this morning through our bedroom door.)
Mom:  "Yeah, Porter.  I think we can go for a drive.)
:)

Porter: j/k

We are getting ready to put the kids to bed.
(And Porter HAS to have someone carry him to bed - tradition.)
I'm finishing up at the computer...
Porter:  "Mom, will you PLEASE carry me down to bed?"
(followed by lots of pulling on my arm)
Mom:  "Oh, alright.  Only if you say 'pretty please'."
Porter:  "Pretty Please."
(followed by cheesiest grin ever)
Mom:  "...and a cherry on top."
Porter:  "And a cherry on top."
I get up to take him downstairs.
Dane:  "Porter, make sure you tell her about the worm in the cherry."
Porter:  whispers-- "Mom, there's a worm in the cherry."
Mom:  "Oh, that's too bad."
I go back to sit at my desk.
Porter grabs my arm:
"There's no worm in the cherry!"
Mom:  "Oh, good!"

Porter: Heaviest in the World

We are Trick or Treating around the neighborhood...
(crazy tradition?  yes.)

While Porter and I are walking, Porter says:
"Ugh.  This basket is the heaviest in the world!"
Jenn says:
"Want me to help you with that?"
Porter replies:
"Never mind.  It's not the heaviest in the world."

(This coming from the kid who kept saying through the whole night --
"Mom!  Stop taking my candy!"
My defense:
"You had two of those!  It's okay.")

Porter: Glass of Water

Jenn is tucking Porter in bed...
Porter - "Mom, I need a glass of water."
Jenn - "I'll have Debany get it for you, ok?"
Porter - "Ok."
Jenn - "Debany, will you get Porter a glass of water, please?"
Debany - "Sure."
Porter - "Porter, the King."
Jenn - "Oh, excuse me.  Debany, will you please get Porter, THE KING, a glass of water?"
Debany - "Yes, Mom."
Debany brings Porter a glass of water...
Porter - "Bow to me."
Dane - "I must go pay homage to the king."

Myanna: shirts and socks

So, last night I put the girls hair in sock curls.
This morning, I heard Myanna say,

"It's hard to put my shirt on with all these socks on my head."

I had to think about that.  That's not something I hear very often.

Porter: Torture and Fences

Kids:  "Can we go to Mia's?  She invited us in her backyard."
Dane:  "Okay.  When I need to come and torture you I'll know where to go."
Porter:  "Yessss."  (We're thinking, "Oh? He must like being tortured...")
Porter:  "You won't find us!  You can't find us because there's a FENCE!"

Debany : spots

We were playing 'hide and find the cookies' for Family Home Evening...
(the crocheted cookies grandma made)

Dane:  "I'm suprised you found yours so fast, Jenn!"
Jenn:  "I saw spots!  And I'm good at seeing spots."
(hinting at my migraine symptoms)
Debany:  "Yeah!  Especially in my clothes..."

Porter : Work

Porter:  I have to go to work

Myanna:  No, it's your day off.

Porter: No.  Bob says I need to work.
I need to get my work clothes on.
Hurry, Bob's going to fire me!

Porter: Japanese

My sister was teaching us some Japanese a while back.  One of the words (which I can't remember what it means off hand - but it's not bad, promise) is DOITASHIMASTE.  My sister said that the easiest way to remember it was to say "No Touchy Mustache".

Dane was writing his name on his plastic water cup.  And the words "NO TOUCHY!" to be cute and keep little (and big) fingers off of it.

So Porter blurts out----
Porter: "NO TOUCHY MUSTACHE!!!"

Porter: Bad Guys

Porter:  "Mom!  Come see what I made!  It's a TRAP!"
Mom: "Show me!"
Porter: "See Mom!"
*** The kids dug a hole in the dirt, added water, and made a soupy/muddy mess.***
Porter:  "The bad guys are going to step here and say, "OH, MAN!  These are my BEST SHOES!!!"

-----

Next morning, Porter is walking around kind of sad.
Gpa:  "Why are you so sad?"
Porter:  "The bad guy got away..."

You've gotta love that little guy! :)

Mom: The Itsy Bitsy Spider

While sitting on the couch, we were singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider song with our hand being spiders.  But we got tired of the old version... and when mom gets (a little) silly, she comes up with new ones...

"The itsy bitsy spider went up the Porter's arm.
Along came Debany and smashed it...
And now it's dead."

We didn't have straight face for the next 20 minutes!

Porter: Veggie Tales

To anyone who knows the Veggie Tales song... Here's my son's version:

"Broccoli, Celery, Got to be... Potatoes!"

Debany: Daddy Needs a Shape...

I'm in the house getting my gloves, Dane's in the backyard working on the garden boxes.

Debany: "Daddy needs a shape. I don't know why he needs a SHAPE."
Mommy: "Daddy needs a shape?"
Debany:  "Yeah! I don't know why."
Mommy:  "Well.. what kind of shape does Daddy need?"
Debany:  "A Triangle."
Mommy: "Ooooh!  Got it."
Debany:  "???"

Myanna: Rainbows

Myanna is relentless to getting her nails painted.  Last night, finger nails.  Today, toe nails.
(This is what happens when you're mom isn't all frilly and girlie...)
So, my indecisive girl decides she wants all the colors in a rainbow.

Mom while painting her nails:  "So, where do rainbows come from?"
Myanna:  "Walmart."

Porter : Gumballs

Porter: Hey Mom!
Jenn: Hey what?!
Porter: If you eat a lot of gumballs, you'll get blowed up.
